PPP 2- STUDIO BRIEF 2- Lord Whitney Emails

For part of this module we have to interview a professional who inspired us/work we are interested in, this interview can be phone, email, Skype or in person. Personal i would prefer to perform a physical interview the selected professional in person due to the nature i struggle with emails due to spelling and the struggle to portray a professional appearance as well as i feel the best way to make an impact/get noticed by the profession is to meet them , also this give chance for more leading question of their answer and more in-depth answers which will be more useful, also i feel it give a more personal touch to the interview, i can make it less formal fitting with my practice style.

In another blog post i have identified people who i would be interested in interviewing, one of the main professional i feel would be useful for me would be the company Lord Whitney. This is to due to the nature that when we visited last year they heavily influenced my PPP work. They stated a idea that stuck with me, that they don't band them selves as anything in particular but as 'connoisseurs of make believe' this is relevant to my practical as current i don't know what the specialize in or if want to specialize at all. They explained how they felt lost in design till they meet each other and how they still don't work in just area, this fits my current ideas for my future work.

'We advocate play, curiosity and the make believe
We understand design, crafting and the aesthetic
We believe in people, our team, monkeys and you'

Projects -
HEY! i wont break your heart
The wood beneath the world
 Urban Jungle
 TKMAX xmas 2016
Charmboard, Because No Reason, (personal fave)

I don't currently know if want to be a graphic designer or a creative director or advertiser or an art director, this company have produced work fitting all these different ideas and part of design. Their work spans from graphical branding to TV adverts to producing short films so i feel talking to them will help me see how they do this, how i can aims to do work of all these style as well as how they got into the industry.

ISSUE- as we visited them last year my whole course might want to do them, very popular band might not have time for me, might not get back to me

how to contact them -
on the site they have a few different emails that can be used to contact them, one for 'say hello' and one for press/interviews, for this brief i've decided to first email the 'say hello', this is so i can first talk to them before asking for an interview. Also i fell the press email will be more for press related interviews, for magazines ect, where as this email is more for just general enquirers.

email - studio@lordwhitney.co.uk

If i do not get a response i aim to send them a physical letter to their address, this is this has been stated in PPP sessions as a more direct personal way to contact professionals but also i fell it reflects my personal hand rendered/imperfect style of design more accurately.

EMAIL -
So the aim of the email to is get a interview/response from Lord Whitney as i'd really love to interview them for this brief if they have chance but i'm aware that as they are a big company and we visited them last year they will constantly be getting emails from students so i need to stand out from the rest. HOW? i aim to do this by being honest with them, i'm contacting them because they said they were lost at Uni and after  so i aim to use what i learn in the past visit and my honest interested in them to make me stand out. Because i want me email to express my personal issues and i want to receive personal advice back i aim to make the email honest and about me, it'll be pharsed to expressed how i currently feel and the advice i aim for.

Final email

'Hi Amy and Rebekah,

I'm a graphic design student studying at Leeds College of Art, currently undertaking my second year. After coming to a talk you held last year, I am inspired to explore alternative avenues related to graphic design.

I remember you both saying how around university you were quite lost, I feel like i'm in the same position and would love to ask you some questions on the issues and get some advice if possible. My aim for this year is to explore new styles and way of working, experiment more to find my personal style and interest in graphic design.

Is there any chance i could visit your studio for a interview or a chat if your not too busy? This advice would really help me with my current issues as well as i'd love to learn more about your project, how you produce them, struggled you've had and how you've overcome them.

Thanks, Beth'
