PPP- Building a Website

For PPP this year one of the aims is to create a personal website, the website aim to give a professional impression and way to showcase our work to potential collaborators or creatives ect. As most of my work is social media or digital based, this is vital that i have an online presence to represent this and also to show my work off in the best media, fitting for the outcomes.

changes -

for the myportfoli site i've changed the Marta layout, this is due to seeing others sites during the session and realise that mine needed a large amount of work. This is a new version of the site, a more lighthearted visual site, that represent my style more.

also from the briefing, i aim to experiment more with different sites as i'm not happy with the current design of my sites, due to this a more developed site will need to be created that i'm pleased with as this will be a good way to display my work and outcomes.

PPP3 - Pen notes

Pen notes

As the aim of sending pens to artist is to set the tone of very hand made/hand created type and design as this my preferred style of design the note that will be sent with the pens will similarly reflects this style. The letter that comes with the pens will need to have aspect of my personality and style added as currently i feel the pen express my ability and ideas but not my style as the design was just a copy of an existing brand. As to express my style the back of the notes will be a type piece with the sharpies, a simple note type as to say hi.

PPP3- Final Pens

Final Pens

For this brief personalised sharpies have been created as to medium to advertise myself to studios and brands, this will form part of my personal brand as well as part of the PPP brief 'you've got (real) mail". The final pens have been created by removing the logo on sharpies using a scalpel then applying a clear sticker over the pen with a personalized logo that has been designed around the brands style.

final pens -

Overall the final pens worked out very successfully, due to this i personally feel they are professional enough to send to studios, this as they look very similar to the to the originals yet with a personal twits.

FEEDBACK
-;they look good, well done'
-'how much did it cost for personalized sharpies?...you made they wow"
-'where did you buy these from"
-'they look really good! well worth the effort"
-'they came out so well'
-'the hard work paid off'
-'THEY LOOK FANTASTIC" tutor
-'thats sick'
-'they look really good'

From the positive feedback i also feel these would be a good item to send, hopefully they will get good responses from the studios. The final pens actually came out a lot better then expected, and the feedback was loads better than expected, this was really positive as this brief has developed largely since the first idea.

PPP3 - Label Design

Label Design

After the idea for this brief has been created the aim now is to design label for the sharpies that mimic the same styles and look of the original branding. The features and what they are being changed to have be decided therefor now the visual need to be created.

The main recognizable and largest part of the label is the sharpie logo which has be identified as a unique logo type, as this is the major part of the label and the part that the audience will recognized this needs to be as accurate as possible. This is the defining part of the project, therefore need to be perfect as to give off a good impression to the studios also showing my type capability.

sizing -

as to work out the sizing of the type the current logo will be studied to keep the factors the same

the x-height, y-height, size of the first letter ect have all been measures then drawn out so the first example can be tested.

first test-

digital conversion-

After comparing this to the sharpie logo this still isn't very similar, the B needed work, development was done to make the logos more similar.

Instragam caption added

Fine point type added

Changed to Permanent creative as to fit with the current pens more accurately, social media name will be sent in letter instead

placement changed
The ACMI logo has not been added to the pens, this as this is very small logo and the text was under size 2pt and this made the logo very blurry and pixelated, this reduced the over all quality of the designer therefore was not included.

tests compared logo in real life / by eye test-

final logo design

Size/sticker shape tests -
Before the printing for the sticker the final size and shape needed to be decided, to test this paper copies have been printed then applied to the pen. This is to test which sizes work best, make sure the logo is position correctly, make sure the label will fit the pen, the logo is the correct size.

After the test the label was slightly too long and too big as the paper over lapped, this was changed on the designer before printing as to remove as many issues with the prints as possible. The sizing was amended to the final label below.

As there are 4 set of 4 pens, 16 labels are needed with a few tests and a few for incase they are applied wrong, therefore 2 sheets of A4 on white sticker paper have been printed, this give room for human error (24 labels Printed).

PPP3 - Current Label Research

Current Label Research

what does the label look like?
what features does it have?
how can the features be edited for my label design?
whats the logo like?
how can this design mimic the original?

general label research

elements on the selected pen/elements needed to be copied

-logo
Research into the logo has showed that this logo type has been created for sharpie as a drawn logo, unique type and is not part of a typeface, therefor this will have to be studied to find the defining details to copied over. This will need to be created as similar as possible.

issue - do i do bethany, or bethany fitton?? or beth fitton? doesn't match perosnal branding/name on social media, is bethany fitton too long? not much space?
use bethany, simpler and there not enough room/don't want to over power or swash lettering
this is the same amount of letter as sharpie, so will fit and cover the same space
hand draw new logo, with the same x-height, y-height ect

-Permanent Marker type under logo
change this to either contact details or description?
use contact details, use social media site names as to be able to contact

-FINE POINT type after logo
change to fine designer
in bebas neue, most similar font

-ACMI/AP LOGO

wording - try uni logo? does this brand me top much as a student, should it focus on my ideas? creative nature? 'art & creative person' 'art & creative material user' 'Creative thinker, designer and dreamer' taken from linked in and social media ( fits with other branding)

initials - BF (name/link to branding)

ACMI - CTDD, links to branding and wording

cornforms -
Conforms to NOTHING
Conforms to GOOD DESIGN
Conforms to GOOD PRATISE
Conforms to ART SCHOOL
