PPP2 - STUDIO BRIEF 1- Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Last year as part of our PPP we visited Yorkshire Sculpture Park but every few months the exhibitions and the sculptures there changed therefore during a free weekend a few friends and my self decided to visit it again. This is mostly due to my love of Typography and my aim to see the work of the designer Kate Daudy, This is Water typographical installation. After seeing images and reading about this designers work being displayed at a sculpture park i was rather confused, as i didn't see how typography could be made into sculptural art work yet was intrigued.

Seeing this exhibition opened up my eyes to other ways typography can be used in the world, this sculptural work is created from everyday signs and type but for no reason yet to be a beautiful piece of art. This exhibition reflect the use of beautiful type as just that, yet with a different purpose.I love love love this exhibition, the type style along is amazing but the placement and the use of nature content allows it gather greater meaning, type isn't just about what it's saying, it;s about where it is, what it's made out of and what it looks like, these all created different uses for type and define it's purposes.
