After the talk for Dines today the importance of a website and a domain name was made clear, a subject also mention in Kate Moross Make your own luck book. Currently, i have a Carbon Made site, but I don't feel this is the standard needed to show my work to professionally. I NEED A DOMAIN NAME AND WEBSITE
As part of the 'Time to get online' brief I experimented with a range of website over the different sites, one of these was carbon collective, this site has been save and can be accessed now. It's currently a free version because I didn't overall like the layout/design and aim to make sure I'd happy with the site before it goes live.
My website needs to reflect me, and this seems to modernist to reflect my style, which is more colorful/illustration based, that why I preferred the creative aspect of my portfolio. This gave me the freedom to add background images and play around with the design, but after I built up my portfolio this site may see too busy??
After this session, i've decided to work on my carbon collective site, make it reflect my style more and also update the design to fit with the brief feedback and my new work. EDIT CARBON MADE
-seems to spread out/hard to read across the full page
-content currently overlaps the imagery, the change made this though
-type still overlaps
-no overlap
-no cropped images
-checked to see if it overlaps with any pages, this style doesn't
-the new professional email added
NEED TO UPDATE WORK -
whilst updating work, I also updated my Behance page as this was also mentioned as important in the talk.
layout 1/random
![]() |
| cannot fully see bottom image |
layout 2/fixed
![]() |
| overlaps text |
Project page
NEED SITE TEST -
overall, I'm still not happy with how this site looks, due to this another template will be tested.
-the site is very video heavy, therefor gif should experiment with
ISSUE, I don't know how to make a gif
https://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/how-to-create-animated-gif-quick-tip-ht
it works!!
color change as images very pink heavy
NEXT PAGE
another gif has been made, but this not visible via overlapping text
ADDED TEXT BEFORE IMAGE INSTEAD
other work added to the page with similar style
added social links
added info and logo
ISSUE CROPPED IMAGE ON LIVE SITE
FEEDBACK ON BOTH SITES
second one is better but bad because you cant open the pages
the second one is more inviting
less effort, professional probably won't click through
the gif format works well
the gif is easier
they need to not be cropped
change the type
the type looks pixelated
both have good points and bad points
