A few weeks ago i visited a print fair and art event put on to celebrate Females in Art and their work. I visited this as to explore this area which includes myself, i'm a female in art and this is a celebration therefor wanted to show support.
After going to this i released an issue that related to my current research for 505 studio brief 2, this was a feminist art event and their branding, style and the colour of the event all reflect female tone only. The world views feminist as a girly, fancy, white female issue, which is what this event reflected, even with it's positive tones and fun vibe the even was very women advertising, branding and based. This is why the general public view feminism as this girly issue because this is how people brand the subject and events around the subject. Feminism is about equality, but this event was just about female empowerment rather than equal empowerment and promotion, males could not submit work are is clearly not the target audeince.
Even thought i enjoyed this event, and felt it was a very postive artist movement and i love what the organizers are try to do, going to this event has informed my research and my idea for the social issue i will explore for 505 studio brief 2.
