As highlighter earlier as an issue with contacting professionals is that due to their busy time commitments they cannot take time out for an interview, but as a solution the idea is to ask a range of professionals for smaller quicker interviews with a linking subject area.
The aim is to contact a range of different typographical designer, this is to ask about there preference on manual or digital typography design as to inform my current practise and aspiration. I'm never sure if its more effective to start digitally as there set type already available, its easier to make changes without having to redrawn, it's easier to edit colours ect but manual type design personally feel more free and give me as designer more control.
As a range of artist will be asked this is give information personally useful for my COP/repsonsive outcomes and for personal deveploement, quotes that can inform my practise but also be documented so that others with similar interest can use to inform theirs, an advice zine discussing manual vs digital type design, why use which.
The zine will discuss the difference between manual and digital typography design, i personally prefer to design manual then to scan in and digitally alter pieces ( a i did for responsive) but i spent awhile confused around the best ways the complete that brief outcome. This zine will be a documentation of the type advice i could have used at this point and will use in the future for my different type projects, the range of interview in general will allow me to explore the benefits of each media and use effectively as the professional do.
As the aim for a range of different views, a range of responses need to be collected. Currently i've only had one successful response for the interview but have had a few smaller response explaining why the professional cannot have time for the interview, the aim is for the a smaller response they can do in the same time as the apology.
Also all of the current communication has been via email with some yet little feedback, so other channels will be explored. As the brief is about manual via digital type, manual and digital communication methods will be explored.
postcard idea - To show my interest in the subject send off typographical hand wrote post cards, hand write content and address.
instagram - this is a more casual social channel, fitting with the more casual response aim also the pages will be run and owned directly by the professional therefore connect to them rather to to their assistant as email can and has.
email - if all the response do fail email will be used, this is as email has given some feedback currently and every artists will have a contact email address, BUT USE A SUBJECT HEADER SOMETHING BETTER THAN HI/HEY AS THIS GOES TO JUNK.
