PPP 2- STUDIO BRIEF 2 - StephSaysHello

One of the artist i've followed for ages and adore the work of is StephSaysHello on instagram, thought this brief i've emailed, messaged and sent out a post card to the artist with the aim that she'd conduct a brief interview with me for this module.

Steph is a leeds based illustrator/typographer, who's manual typographical work and style is amazing which as she's Leeds based i'd intended to interview in person. Yet unfortunately i've been unsuccessful and she's ignored all of my messages, this was slightly disheartening as last week she conducted an interview with an illustration student for the same module at uni. This is as the illustration student had either offered or had something more to offer than i had for professional. This had made me realize that in industry most professional will only responde to emails or interviews if they feel they can get something from the interview as well. The illustration student has started their own business and has more followers on the social site than Steph therefor Steph explains in her post about the interview she conducted the interview as learn from the student and her business.

After anaylsying this situation in the future if i aim to interview or ask for advice on a subject area from a professional in the industry i feel i'd be more successful if i'd had something i could offer the professional in exchange for their advice. This has showed the importance of keeping up to date with my social media sites, keeping up getting more followers ect as this could portray me in a more professional manner.

From this i've learnt that Artist will do more interview/respond if it's equally beneficial for both them and myself, therefor i should find ways to make my practise beneficial in a way to the artist or ways to make their feedback benefit them. In the future i aim to ask professional i intent to meet in person to buy them a coffee, to give them something back for the interview.

GIVE INTERVIEWS SOMETHING BACK
