PPP - STUDIO BRIEF 1 - Letter Press

Letter Press Induction -

In todays work shop we learnt how to set type in a case, set up letter press, organized the letter so they print the correct way, ink up, clean, and use the letter press equipment in our uni. I've never used letter press before but think the old style is typographically really important, as type is one of my main interest is type i think learning how it used to be created before digital times is vital to help me understand how type has evolved and how it is created, how it links back to the first style of printing.

My first experiment didn't work out that well as i placed it too low down on the press so the bottom didn't print as this was over the bar that hold the paper in place. Also i removed the design too fast and took it home before it dried causing it to smug a lot in my bag.  Next time i will use bigger letters, leave it for longer to dry and make sure i have the type in the middle of the chase so it prints all of the letters, i'm going to do a more experiments with this style for my set brief so i can to use my love for manual printing in my work.
