I visited a paper-cutting/paper work exhibiton on at manchester city art gallery, this was as paper-cutting i feel is an amazing artform. I dont have the skill or the ideas or the patient to create paper cut artwork but felt i would go to see what people can do with paper then came away amazed.
The exhibition contain work from Peter Callesen, Rob Ryan, Sarah Bridgland, Su Blackwell, Susan Stockwell, The First Cut, Yuken Teruya ect and shows how this art from can be taken is so many different unique styles. Its about the different stocks, learning how far the artists can push the paper, the social concepts relating to different stock, and how to create emotional deep work in styles that seem very delicate and beautiful yet may have deeper meanings .
This exhibition has shown me how different stocks of paper have different meanings and can create different art work, it showed how the importance of the dollar being use for the gun is symbolic around the world. This exhibition proves that paper is very very important in art and showed me how it can be used for different meanings.
