PPP - STUDIO BREFI 2 - Pattern Research

Pattern Research -

For the self branding brief set for this module i have brand myself as i see myself now, what represents my interest in the creative world and me as designer/creative as a way to present myself to others. The solution to this brief needs to reflect me as an individual, my practise, along with what i have learn on the course so far.

One of the main influence through out my work outside of study is pattern design, most of the clothes i wear, object i own, and things i like has some aspect of patterns in. Whilst research myself  i have found that these are mostly pattern found in the 60/70/80 this is probaly due to my interest in charity shops and historic design movement, strong colours and over the top design elements.

Charity Shops/ Vintage shop are where i purchase most of my clothes and this has an effect on my personal fashion choice/design as they usually sell items based around patterns similar to these my style has become based around these schemes.

I feel like these should be reflect in my current branding as this project is based around creating an identity for myself now, currently styles like these influence my interior design, clothe choices, outfits and over all how i present myself. They have also has a effect on my design work as i have previously created brands for charity shops with a large influence from this ear.

The bold contrasting colour schemes, dark greens/browns/yellow/oranges, simple shapes, over busy designs reflect how i dress myself but also how i decorate space around me, how i like to be surrounded .I feel they give of a positive, natural, happy vibe due to the brightness of the colours but also links to florals used with nature, they take a naturally image of a flower and convert it into a graphical shape then used over and over to crete a pattern.  Combine the idea of nature with the warm colour schemes adds a sense of comfort that i associate with home. The reflect the idea of peace and love which appeals to me and is a idea i want to reflect.

These patterns relate to an era that i take a lot of inspiration from, they reflect positive imagery of nature that associated strongly with the decade where families started to connect more and have more money, a simpler less digital time where everything was more free. I need to reflect the influence in my work to reflect myself as a designer but also as a person.
