Charity Shop Influence
As recycling and trying to reduce waste is a main moral concern of mine one of the ways i have died to do this throughout my life is by shopping at charity shops/second hand shops. This is as they -
reduce the need for the manufacture of new clothes/object which saves energy
along with reduce dye damage water,
reduce water contamination issues,
contaminated water can effect the animals
reduce the amour of waste we produce which causes less landfill sites
have less moral issues as i'm not supporting companies that fund child labour
most of the time the money spent goes towards a good causes
mostly cheaper
showcase 60/70 retro fashions
more interesting patterns
Because of all these reasons i proffer to shop for most of my clothes in second hand shops as much as i can (certain objects i have to buy from high-street shops due to sizing ect). I have done this for most of my adult life and without realising it has had a big effect on my fashion but also my work as a designer as i feel i'm more interested in over the top, historically, brighter designs that reflect retro eras. Buying these cloths that reflect styles of the past from times which where more vibrant, bold and carefree than some aspect of modernist design.
