PPP - STUDIO BREFI1/2 - Foam Stamp Experiments

Foam Stamp Experiments

Another idea for creating a handmade stamp came from my research was  2 different forms of foam stamps. One that was just each individual letter, the other was a block of foam that had the logo fully impressed in so the area wouldn't print. The benefit of this idea is that rather than cutting out the shapes/letterforms i can just drawn them on the foam, as the foam will then imprint the drawn parts and when it is ink they wont pick up the ink causing them not to print. This will be a lot easier than cutting out like i have to for lino, it will allow me more control over the the finished logo print and allow me to make sure the text isn't as scary/harsh as it is in my lino prints.

logo experiment -

issues -
uneven print
takes a lot of pressure over the top to produce the print
soaks up a large amount of ink therefore needs a large amount of ink (no eco)
is hard to recreate the print muitiple times
print isn't that defined/sharp, looks blurry which makes it seem childish
very flimsy/ the stamp will rip easily is taken out (want to take to events ect)

but over all the logo is more accurate here, its softer letter forms as i have more control over the imprint but i think the negative over way the positive outcome

Separate letter form experiment

before i create this experiment i can see one of the downfalls is that the letter will take ages to print as they all have to be done for one logo print, also they will take up a large of room if i have to carry them around, will be useless is one letterform is lost. But as they use recycled foam and recycled wine bottle corks, i thought it was a good idea to test them to see if the outcome is worth it.

issues -
not clear prints
hard to carry on the go
easily damaged/lost
not complete logo
not fit with house style

BUT i do really like the idea of using the recycled wine bottle corks as a holder, i will apply this to my final stamp as it allowed me to pick the stamp face up with ease which make sure the stamp doesn't smugde
