Five Facts that Show the Advertising Industry Fails Women

http://www.theguardian.com/women-in-leadership/2016/feb/03/how-advertising-industry-fails-women

This is a article that explains exactly why and how women should be seen more in advertising jobs/ the creative industry. it highlights the stats of how many women actually have job but compared this to the target audience. Currently its men trying to sell brands/products to women but this needs to change and slowly is, the industry is realising that over time that to understand the target audience better usually they have to included in the design ideas. Feedback and a women's view improves sales to women.

'In 2008, just 3.6% of the world’s creative directors were female. Since then it has tripled to 11%; in London, my research shows, the figure is about 14% – still shockingly low.' this fact show over time it is improving but not dramatically, this needs to be a more even percentage but changing opinions/views is hard in a male run industry.

'Unsurprisingly, according to research, 91% of female consumers feel advertisers don’t understand them. Seven in 10 women go further to say they feel “alienated” by advertising. ' this is statical proof that women and the women advertising industry isn't succeeding , its not fulfilling its aim or helping its audience if anything its excluding them, if there was more women influence in the creative direction this might change these facts.

1) 88% of young female creatives say they lack role models

2) 70% of young female creatives says they have never worked with a female creative director or executive creative director

3) 70% of young female creatives are working in a 75% male-dominated department

4) 60% of young females say they believe advertising is a career that doesn’t support young families

5) 10% of young male creative are working in an all-male department

CAN I DO THIS? IS IT A SUITABLE CAREER? WILL IT BE OK FOR ME?
over summer this year i will look at getting a placement at a advertisement company to see how i experience the environment and then see how this works out.
