PPP - STUDIO BRIEF 1 - Instagram influences

Previously for PPP i have an art only instagram, throughout my current project i have tried to keep it updated with regular posts of my work, more images of my past work and photos of anything i feel inspired by. Keeping this blog updated has allowed me to surround myself more with different styles of art and just art in general as i find myself on my phone a lot but now i can use it to research artist/see new things that will influence my designs practise.

Via this account i came across David Shillinglaws instagram page as his work had been shared by an account i follow, the work that this artist produces is amazing. He uses illustration and type in a postmodern way to express emotions whilst keeping his work free because its gridless layout. I also love how captivating and busy his pieces are as there is so much going on the audience can look for hours and then suddenly see something new. The piece are imperfect and basic, they have mistakes and wonky line, they don't fit a pattern as the artist draws as he feels.

After studding his work in detail i have noticed links to my current project Secret Seven, as my song has been reviews as 'blue eye'd soul'. The review has become a focus for many of my designs ideas as i feel its a way that no one else will take, it will create a different abstract cover that will stand out to the judges. David Shillinglaw work could link to this review as he uses a large amount of blue eyes in his drawings, as well as this style of illustration has a deeper meaning like the song it has hidden messages.

Also for this brief i came across the artist Wild Humm via instagram. Her work was very abstract yet geometric, this contrast to be stood out as a way to portray people different emotions/feelings about worry for my studio practise brief. The water colour in her work seemed to be to represent the physical effects of worry on the brain and the triangles could stand for the links between cages/trapping feelings the suffers experience.

Here Instagram again has given me a newer fresher idea for my project that i could directly relate to my work, this was only discover as i was trying to create a account that could show case my work but currently it has been effective for help me discover new inspiration and way to take my brief.
